Winter 2007/8
What began as a dream of a visionary
man 12 years ago has become a way of life to literally thousands
of talented young actors throughout Arizona.
Gerry Cullity, along with his wife,
Laurie, and his mother, Joan Thompson, founded Desert Stages Theatre
in a small Scottsdale strip mall in 1995. Since that time, Scottsdale
Desert Stages Theatre has opened a world of joy, not only to children
ages 3-19, but to countless adult actors as well, who have entertained
thousands of arts patrons over the years. In 2004, with the help
of dedicated volunteers, Desert Stages moved into a freestanding
theatre in downtown Scottsdale. A dream was realized! Very sadly,
in the spring of 2005, Scottsdale Desert Stages Theatre unexpectedly
lost its founder and artistic director, Gerry Cullity to a massive
heart attack.
The show has gone on! Laurie, Joan
and countless actors, donors, volunteers and audience members continue
to carry on Scottsdale Desert Stages.
This year, we celebrate serving the
valley with theatrical excellence. I cordially invite you to help
underwrite and to attend the event that will pay tribute to Scottsdale
Desert Stages’ 14th season!
